How we got here...

Well...like many things nowadays, it’s often the memories that bring the most joy. In a world where we often forget to live in the moment and simply cherish the time we have with our friends and family, we end up moving from one thing to the next pretty quickly. It was pretty much just that realization that prompted me to make a change and create something that would allow me to cherish the moments and be present in my families lives.

I’ve worked in construction essentially my entire life. My father was a mason and all around jack of all trades, so far there hasn’t been anything that I’ve seen him not be able to build or fix. As a result, I developed similar interests and followed in his footsteps. In doing so I learned quite a bit about the trades and developed a work ethic to support the desire to do more. I spent the majority of my youth working with my dad, building homes, schools, hospitals, I then served seven years in the Army National Guard and eventually found myself in the exhibit industry. This industry has been extremely good to me, but at the cost of missing the moments that mean the most. I am a father of three and I believe that it is important for my children to learn how to work with their hands, problem solve a situation and ultimately know what it means, and how, to contribute to their community. The problem with that is I work behind a desk at the moment and do not know how to teach them these things with our limited time together on weekends. So what’s next...?

My wife and I have renovated our last couple houses, extensively renovated, and found great pride in showing what we accomplished together. About four years ago we had an opportunity to come back home to Michigan after having been relocated to Tennessee for the previous eight years. We were excited to come home and raise our children in the communities that we were from, surrounded by friends and family. We decided when we moved home to buy a house that needed nothing, we were done, we wanted to unpack our clothes and be able to call it home. Well...that honeymoon was short lived, we quickly realized that the renovations that we didn’t want to have to deal with were something that we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed those times and the work that came with them. So here we are, four years, three children and countless missed moments later ready for the next chapter.
